Drawing in between lines of a coloring book is a tradition in western culture, many of us may have experienced.
These “lines” we inherit as children are at first alien, but evolve over time and we gain familiarity with them.
IN BETWEEN LINES explores this aging past time with rejuvenating experiences in the round. The bursts of color and forms that are found in the resurgence of spring, and the feelings that arise in play are the central focus of this exhibition. Now as adults these “lines” which have developed from our environment and society enables a response in the form of art.
This opening coincides with Greenpoint Gallery Night, sponsored by Hyperallergic and Greenpointers.
IN BETWEEN LINES runs from May 10 - May 18
Please email laundrylung@zoho.com to make an appointment.

“To kick off the second weekend of May - as the Frieze NYC and NADA art fairs bustle away at opposite ends of the East River - over a dozen galleries in the historic neighborhood of Greenpoint, Brooklyn open their doors to art seekers from near and far. Two local gallery directors, Lia Post of Fowler Arts Collective and Scott Chasse of Calicohave organized this event for Friday, May 10th from 6-9pm to shed light on the exceptional galleries and art organizations that call Greenpoint their home.

This free evening art stroll will be the first installment of regular Greenpoint gallery nights to be held throughout the year. Visitors are invited to explore the diverse array of exhibition spaces in the neighborhood which is also home to hundreds of working artists. Art seekers can meander through tree-lined streets, marvel at the amazing views of Manhattan across the East River, and sample local bars, restaurants, and shops as they wander to each participating gallery in this unique part of Brooklyn.

Participating Spaces: Beginnings, Booklyn Artist Alliance, Calico, Theceeflat Gallery, Dobbin Project Space, Fowler Project Space, G Spot (at CoCo66), Greenpoint Gallery (8-12pm only), Heliopolis, Janet Kurnatowski, Laundry Lung, The Yard, Yashar Gallery, and Yes Gallery. See our map of the neighborhood here: greenpointgalleries.org/map.html

While NYC is sure to be buzzing over the art fairs the same weekend, Greenpoint Gallery Night offers a way for the public to support the home-grown galleries in their own backyard. Join us at an afterparty at CoCo66 (66 Greenpoint Ave.) from 9pm onward!

Thank you to our media sponsors: Hyperallergic and Greenpointers.com!”

  3. DEATH IN FLESH POSTER BY EMMA KOHLMANN

    JEWELRY BY KATHERINE VALENTINE

  4. Laundry Lung Gallery is pleased to announce our first two person show featuring the ink works of Emma Kohlmann and photography by Caroline Schub, curated by Nicole Aiello.

Both artists explore the idea of the human form through different medium and scale.
Kohlmann’s six foot large and small scale ink drawings depict visceral and intricate depictions of carnal postured figures exhibiting themselves to the viewer.
Schub’s self portraits and stills explore the human form and flesh beyond the confines of the body. Her use of antiquated objects allude to visions of death and the wake of artifacts it leaves behind.

Zines by Emma Kohlmann, photography featuring poetry by Caroline Schub and jewelry crafted by the talented Katherine Valentine will all be for sale, so be sure to come prepared.

Make sure to save the date because this is going to be awesome.

We even have Smuttynose Brewing Company Sponsoring the Show!
